Pastor Marco Smith

Pastor Marco was born and raised on the Florida Gulf Coast. He earned his associates degree and then worked as Assistant Superintendent for an industrial construction company across the United States. During that time he felt led into ministry and returned to Florida to complete his bachelors degree in business administration, which he received from the University of West Florida. Later he completed his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000. Pastor Marco has served as a Youth Pastor, planted a church in Williamsburg, VA while serving as a North American Mission Board missionary, assisted others in church planting, as well as pastored churches in Florida, Alabama, and Virginia. Pastor Marco married the love of his life, Jess, on April 13, 2002. They joyously welcomed their son, Owen, into their family in 2011. The shortest member of Smith family is Jethro, their bassett hound. Marco loves to hunt, fish, kayak, camp, read, hike, restore old trucks, bike, and spend time outdoors in God's glorious creation. His passions in ministry are preaching and discipling men to be all they can be for the glory of God. Marco began serving as Pastor of Matoaca Baptist in February 2020.
